Man, it's rare to come across a triumph of imagination like this.  And I don't care about the morality of hunting, Greenpeace wannabes  can all go kiss my ass.  Whale meat is fucking delicious, go eat tempeh you goddamn treehuggers.

What I do mind is, how original auteur stuff like this just proliferates with such abundance in Japan.  I'm talking about hundreds, if not thousands, of individual manga creators that rival Ghibli in concept, storytelling and creativity.  Education alone can't explain this.  Other media can't ever keep pace with the output of good manga, and the stories being crafted far surpassed everything similar in Europe or the US.
