He has a lot of good points, though. While taking his job as a NTS member too seriously is a character trait, becoming this intensely narcissistic about how stoic he is against all the 'evil' forces just seems wish-fulfillment to me. He has risen too quickly, which while okay for the pace throws out the entire premise of becoming a 'sword' for the higher-ups of the politics. By 90 he is a player because the entire plot revolves around him(been some time since I read so do please correct me for this, as it is how I remember) and this other mastermind of evil.
The story does not take any 'fun' or 'tasteful' side of politics from real life, only empty titles and structures. It is all about my side and evil side, and by then the story isn't about cleaning the government or about delivering justice, just showing how cool or capable Shin is. And again, that is wish-fulfillment at its peak imo—though a very bad one.
