While I appreciate that this manga had a storyline, I found it could have been more cohesive. I strongly disapprove of how it normalizes rape. Rape is never an expression of love or romance; it's just rape! The artwork is stunning and worth viewing for its beauty alone, provided you're okay with the explicit scenes, some of which depict rape as part of a broader scheme of torture. Yes, I read all five volumes, but in hindsight, I wish I hadn't. The heavy themes made it far from enjoyable to read, and I can't honestly say I enjoyed it. My advice is to understand your own boundaries and be warned: this manga might push them to their limits.

Not sure which "lovey dovey cute" manga you're referring to, but the main character gets graphically raped by the love interest in the first chapter, and it's not addressed properly. Instead, there's some half-baked explanation about "taking magic through rape into submission," though not phrased exactly like that. This could be a throwback to the grim and terrible times of 2000s BL where consent was an afterthought, and everyone was dazzled by the "pretty art and beautiful character design." One of my biggest gripes with the genre has always been BL blatantly showing rape without treating it as such. It's getting better, but early BL is riddled with this trope.

If you're okay with that, go ahead and read it. For everyone else, skip it.

The artwork is among the finest and most consistent I've encountered, with a storyline that's highly engaging and more robust than many other entries in the yaoi fantasy genre. It avoids an overload of confusing side characters, unnecessary add-ins, or illogical plot twists.

This collection features multiple interconnected stories within a single volume, offering great value for your money. If you're a fan of yaoi packed with action but not excessively graphic, this book is an absolute must-buy. It’s exquisite in its unique way, a fantastic addition to its theme, and I wouldn't part with it for anything. I also own Crimson Spell 2 and am eagerly awaiting future releases. I'm definitely an Ayano Yamane fan :-)

I'm really not a fan of fantasy BL, but this manga completely changed my perspective! Combining action and romance can be tricky, yet Yamane Ayano's dedication shines through as she strikes the perfect balance while keeping readers hooked. The stunning art style is just the cherry on top – both her seme and uke are absolutely delightful if you're into a pair of captivating men stirring things up without falling into clichéd "Oh-my-god! Hearts-shojo-pretty-romance-lovey-dovey~♥♥" gay tropes. This one's definitely worth your time!

The plot is refreshingly original, which is one of the reasons I enjoyed it so much. A prince and a magician obsessed with rare and elusive things embark on an adventure to break a curse... Doesn't sound like your typical yaoi manga summary, right? But trust me, you'll be pleasantly surprised! If I may say so, the sex scenes are incredibly well-done! With captivating bodies, smooth lines, expressive faces, and dynamic positions, you'll find yourself sweating like an otaku who just stumbled upon a stash of loli manga~

But let's move on – the characters display a wide range of emotions, ensuring there's someone for everyone to root for. As the adventure unfolds, you'll find yourself thoroughly engrossed. So don't miss out on this gem! It's a must-read that you'll eagerly recommend to all your Boy Love-loving friends!♥

I find this manga utterly breathtaking. Much like Ayano Yamane's other works, this one is crafted to perfection, down to the minutest detail. The characters are strong-willed and absolutely stunning. To be honest, in my view, this is the only fantasy yaoi manga that feels truly complete. It seems the concept the author envisioned has been flawlessly executed in both writing and illustration. At least, that's the impression I get, as everything appears too perfect to be real. I hope it remains this way until the very end.

The artwork in this manga—or any of Yamane Ayano's creations—is nothing short of spectacular. She stands out as one of the most gifted artists in the manga industry today. Her style is something I adore; the costumes are exquisite, the characters are flawless, and the backgrounds are mesmerizing. If that wasn't enough to win you over, the storylines will grip you from the very first page and hold you captive even after you've finished the volume! You'll find yourself craving more, and thankfully, Ayano-sensei is more than happy to oblige! ;)

This series is an absolute must-read for any hardcore Yaoi fan, and you will *never* regret diving into it! The intense passion and alluring characters will get your heart racing. The humor is so spot-on it will have you laughing until you cry. And the tender romance will leave your heart fluttering for days—or even months ;) afterward. What’s not to love? Plus, there’s plenty of action for fantasy enthusiasts, with dragons, demons, and magic aplenty! ;D

If I could, I'd give this series a staggering 500/10 stars! Unfortunately, the rating system only goes up to 10 *sad face*. But regardless, enjoy every volume! Happy Reading!
