I guess they did foreshadow that they still were gonna save all the people that died, I don't know if the conclusion that "sometimes all you need is a friend" is the right one to end this series on, but at this point anything goes.
It was honestly really sad to see such a great series have a gradual and slow downfall over two years despite having one of the best premises it could have had, but given how the author seems to always end up whiffing the last arc of his mangas real hard, I just hope it doesn't happen again.
The real Tokyo Revenging was the cringe we felt along the way
