And if I remember correctly, he runs into them eventually and he gives the girl with the cut arm (Ryu, I think?) a potion that heals her injury. I like Mukoda as a protagonist. He's savvy and good at heart, but he is not a brave man, nor does he possess a drop of his familiars' natural talent. The gods love him because he's their delivery guy and his familiars only follow him because he's a super-chef. He's a breath of fresh air.
