Yukino serves as the secretary of the Fuuka Student Council and is Haruka Suzushiro's best friend and confidant. She shares the same class with Mai Tokiha and Yuuichi Tate. Yukino is often seen with her laptop, managing the communications network for the Executive Council. Being an introvert, she frequently corrects Haruka’s mispronounced or misspelled words and tries to calm Haruka down during crises. Since childhood, Yukino has been friends with Haruka, who has always defended her from bullies. This has instilled in Yukino a strong sense of loyalty towards Haruka, leading her to accompany Haruka on her (sometimes poorly planned) missions to protect the school.
Yukino is later revealed to be one of the 12 HiME when a vampire-like Orphan sent by the SEARRS foundation begins targeting girls on campus. The school's headmaster, Mashiro Kazahana, contacts Yukino to warn her that Haruka may become a target if the Orphan attacks continue.
