Mashiro first appears unnamed in episode 2, in the flower garden with Fumi when Mai Tokiha passes by and asks them where Mikoto Minagi has gone. Mashiro and Mai formally meet in episode 3, where Mashiro informs Mai that she is gathering the HiMEs to defeat Orphans. She advises Mai to make her own decisions, a theme that becomes central to Mai's story. In episode 25, Mashiro's true body is revealed, encased in a crystal star. It is further disclosed that she is the winner of the previous HiME carnival and the former user of Kagutsuchi, Mai's Child. In the final episode, Miyu's anti-materializer frees Mashiro, allowing her to float up to the Crystal Shrine. There, she revives the fallen HiMEs, resurrecting them and their loved ones, and restoring their HiME powers. In the ending credits, Nagi and Mashiro (still in a wheelchair) enter the large doors at the far end of the library. Powers In episode 21, Mashiro demonstrates two abilities: creating a barrier to prevent eavesdropping and transforming into a Child. As Fumi's Child, Suishou, she dramatically changes appearance and wields a double-sided blade, bearing Kagutsuchi's crest of three tomoe on her robe.
