Yoh claims that ninety percent of Asaoka's words are driven by kindness, suggesting that anyone who dates him would be happy due to his gentle remarks.
Haruna once attempted to set up Asaoka with her friend Mami-chan, which made Yoh angry because he felt jealous that Haruna was giving more attention to Asaoka than to him, causing him to leave. During the Grand Athletic Meet, Asaoka agreed with Yoh that if he won the 100m dash along with other events, he would confess his feelings to Haruna. The competition ended in a tie, one win and one loss, so it was decided that the winner's team would serve as the tiebreaker. Ultimately, Yoh's white team emerged victorious, but Asaoka told Yoh that he never actually said he liked Haruna. Afterward, Mami informed Asaoka that he wasn't being honest with himself, prompting him to brush off the situation as a joke. Later, Asaoka realized on his own that he truly did like Haruna and confessed his feelings to her, but she thought it was another one of his usual tricks.
