Matsuzaka is a former softball pitcher who once played against Haruna's middle school team. She transferred to Haruna's school following her father's unexpected job relocation. Matsuzaka has a particular charm she uses on boys to get her way, such as attempting to secure a male student's seat number so she could sit next to Haruna.

She frequently gives intense glares towards Haruna, who initially mistook them for looks of admiration. Haruna eventually discovers Matsuzaka's background, but Mami was already aware of it from the beginning and assumed Haruna knew as well.
