A freelance writer who initially appeared in "Legend of Lake Hiren," he and Kindaichi became friends after the case. Later, he assisted Kindaichi during the events of "Kindaichi the Killer." Since then, he has served as a press and media contact for Kindaichi, using his role as a writer to conduct background checks on suspects. His sources are highly reliable, but in "Kindaichi the Killer," Itsuki will find out that one of his friends, who claims to be helping, may actually be a prime suspect. He also makes a brief appearance in "The Gentleman Thief."
