Yayoi is a kind-hearted girl who has lived a very sheltered life. Confined to a wheelchair, she depends on her closest and dearest friend, Kanako, for support. She seems to be the only person whom Kanako does not resent.
Yayoi takes on the role of the storyteller in the storytelling parody vignettes within the anime. She quietly begins to tell her tales, which often end with her starting to say something silly, only to be promptly cut off.
She is skilled at playing the piano.
Yayoi is another ghost, and her existence is gradually fading, which explains her confinement to a wheelchair. In the past, she would quietly observe Kanako, wishing to reach out to her, but the other girl would angrily reject her advances. Yayoi was revealed to have been a very sheltered and privileged girl, yet she never tried to shift responsibility onto others. Every time she attempted to assist Kanako, she was turned away.
Her intense desire to become friends with Kanako eventually won over the other girl. Through Yayoi's kind, nurturing, and gentle nature, they became close friends.
