The stern pilot of the Shenlong Gundam is a proud descendant of a legendary warrior clan. Exiled from China to a dilapidated space colony by a fearful government, Wufei upholds a strict code of honor and justice. His mission is to protect the weak and punish the guilty. However, his pride can sometimes be his downfall, as it tends to break when pushed too far.
Unlike other Gundam pilots, even the relatively antisocial Heero and Trowa, Wufei prefers to work alone. He often seems more aware of the situation than his fellow pilots. His only companion is his Gundam, which he calls "Nataku," named after a Chinese mythological hero [refer to Episode Zero manga for more details].
In Frozen Teardrop:
By M.C. 0022, Wufei has become the head of the Mars Preventer base. He oversees Kathy Po, whom he sends to Earth to meet with President Dorothy Catalonia and retrieve important files for Operation Mythos. Upon Kathy's return, Wufei uses the files to awaken Heero Yuy from cold sleep. Along with Father Maxwell and his son Duo, Wufei greets the awakened Heero and briefs him on his new mission.
