A 15-year-old cross-dressing supermodel, Umi enchants both men and women with his charming smile. At the start of the series, only Ms. President, the head of Boom! modeling agency, and Naka know Umi's true gender. Umi chose to reveal his gender to Ms. President, while Naka stumbled upon this secret accidentally. To keep Naka silent, Umi offers her a modeling job for the popular brand "Junk." Shortly after Naka discovers Umi's secret, it is revealed that he is also the president of her high school, something she hadn't noticed before because he presents as male at school. While at school, Umi doesn't hide his true personality, leading to a reputation as a demon and fear from most of the student body. Despite his poor attendance, Umi maintains top grades and ensures all student council matters are handled in a business-like manner. Hints of Umi's feelings for Naka appear early in the series through his constant sexual harassment and embarrassment when she compliments him. When Tsutsumi Ikue shows a clear interest in Naka, Umi's feelings become more evident, and he even confesses his love for Naka to Ms. President. Though Umi is portrayed as two-faced and cruel throughout the series, he has a softer side, particularly when dealing with Naka or matters concerning her. As time progresses, Umi starts looking more masculine, threatening his chances of becoming the face for "Heki."
