Age: 42
Kamojima is Ryuuji's primary associate and bodyguard, having been by Ryuuji's side since the latter was a child. He is older than Shibuya and has also served Ryuuji's father, Tatsuya, entering the world of the gokudo at the age of 18. His gentle, smiling face has earned him the nickname "the face of a Buddha," although he can be quite intimidating when serious.
Among all the Kuryugumi members, Kamojima knows Ryuuji best and can often discern his moods even through his poker face. He is always rooting for Tsukasa and Ryuuji to get together, believing that Tsukasa would make an excellent seisai. Tsukasa affectionately calls him "Kamo-san," humorously translating to "duck."
At 28, Kamojima wanted to leave the gokudo life to focus on his new family, but his fiancée Yui, who was pregnant with their unborn child, was brutally assaulted and murdered by the Hanawagumi group. The sadistic kumicho of Hanawagumi took pleasure in selling snuff films of himself torturing and raping women. Before Kamojima could seek revenge, Hanawa was killed by others, leaving Kamojima in despair and contemplating suicide.
At this critical moment, Tatsuya approached Kamojima asking for help in caring for his infant son, whose mother had recently died in childbirth. Tatsuya planned to name the boy Ryuuji—the same name Kamojima intended for his own son. Thus, Kamojima and Ryuuji formed a bond deeper than blood or duty, akin to father and son.
Kamojima is ultimately killed while protecting Ryuuji from one of the technologically enhanced humans created by Garyukai. His death marks the only instance in the story where Ryuuji allows himself to cry, and he does so only in front of Tsukasa.
