Tokoro Tennosuke is a walking, talking, blocky, human-shaped mass of tokoroten (a type of very cold jelly). His moldable body makes him comparable to Gumby. His Japanese name is a pun on "tokoroten," which explains his ability to shape himself into any form. In the English dub, his name is likely a trademark-friendly reference to Jell-O Jigglers, a snack made from fruit juice and powdered gelatin. At first glance, Tennosuke appears as the most serious member of the main Hajike trio in the series. Unlike Bo-bobo or Don Patch, who tend to be more carefree, Jelly tries to remain calm while performing his strange actions. However, beneath his serious demeanor lies an extremely emotional and over-the-top personality. His moments of calm are often contrasted by periods where he can be angry, upset, or even silly, much like his comrades. This duality reflects his time at the supermarket, where he struggled to get sold and often felt disappointed for not fulfilling his primary purpose of being consumed. By the time he officially joins Bo-BoBo's team, Tennosuke possesses a handkerchief with the Japanese hiragana for "nu" (ぬ) written all over it (known as the "handkerchief of 'nu'" or "The Lucky Hanky" in the English dub). Initially, he uses it to wipe away tears, but this eventually leads to an all-out obsession with the "nu" character. Conversely, he utterly despises the hiragana character "ne" (ね)! Additionally, Tennosuke cannot stand tofu. The tokoroten man despises it with a passion, to the point where his worst nightmare involves being tortured by tofu men! This hatred may stem from tofu selling better than he did while in the supermarket, or it could simply be a rivalry with another squishy food.
