Don Patch is an exceptionally cheerful and carefree character, more so than any other member of Bo-bobo's team. He is an orange, spherical creature inspired by Don Pach, the mascot of a popular 1980s Japanese candy called Konpeitō, which resembles Pop Rocks. Despite encountering grave dangers and numerous formidable threats in his world, Don Patch typically remains optimistic. He often lightens the mood with bizarre comments or actions that either diffuse the tension of a battle or escalate the absurdity. Much of his cheerfulness stems from his hajike lifestyle, where he must constantly engage in unusual behavior to remain in control. Even during the most serious moments, Don Patch struggles to take things seriously, a trait shared by most of the main characters except for Beauty and Heppokomaru. Unfortunately, Don Patch's constant need to act out or be the center of attention makes him somewhat narcissistic. Whenever the spotlight isn't on him, he tries to find ways to draw everyone's focus. This attitude is particularly evident towards his allies, whom he frequently considers less important than himself throughout the series. He attempts to position himself as the main character over Bo-bobo, the main heroine over Beauty, and even tries to assert superiority over a similar ally, Tokoro Tennosuke. These attention-seeking behaviors are usually curtailed through beatings from enemies, Bo-bobo, or reprimands from Beauty. Other facets of Don Patch's personality emerge when necessary. Although no longer the leader of the Hajike Gang, he still commands respect from hajike followers like KoPatch and humans such as Underboss and Hatenko. In these moments, he showcases leadership qualities, but these often lead to him becoming bossy or self-serving. He also exhibits a nurturing side, not just when cross-dressing, usually in caring for his toy doll Ya-kun (Ya-ya), but occasionally in hajike gags with Bo-bobo. There are rare instances where Don Patch tries to be more serious, but these efforts typically set up jokes.
