Makoto's frail fiancée was forced upon him by his father, but she has never been seen as more than a friend by Makoto, much to her disappointment. She suffers from a weak immune system and behaves very politely and modestly in front of elders and Makoto. However, she occasionally shows her true self to Ito. Takayo is actually quite manipulative and aims to destroy Ito, yet she remains respectable enough not to reveal Makoto's secret, which would send him back to the Narita household. She transfers to his school to be closer to him and ensure he adheres to the terms of their agreement, though her poor health often keeps her absent. Her family is extremely wealthy, providing her with bodyguards and spies. Her older brother has a "little sister complex" and would do anything for her. His reluctance to expose Makoto stems from her pleading with him not to. He views her as genuinely noble and is easily moved to tears by even her smallest gestures. Emura mentions that originally, she was a much harsher character with a 'persecution complex'.
