Takaya is a 17-year-old high school student, marked by loneliness, pride, and a fiery spirit. He has endured a tumultuous past, including abuse from his father, separation from his divorced mother, and now lives in Matsumoto. Strange, ghostly occurrences begin to plague Matsumoto, particularly affecting his best friend, Yuzuru. Upon meeting the enigmatic Tachibana Yoshiaki, Takaya learns he is the reincarnation of Uesugi Kagetora, once the leader of the Uesugi Yashashu. His new destiny involves battling malevolent spirits and restless souls of ancient lords and warriors.
In this modern era, it appears that the powerful warlords and heroes from the Sengoku Period (the Civil Wars) have been reborn across Japan. They are given another chance to reignite the brutal territorial conflicts of their time. Some lords revive their thwarted ambitions to dominate the country, others seek vengeance on old foes or reclaim lost loves, while some nobles strive to protect their lands and people as guardian deities. Uesugi Kagetora was a lesser-known historical figure who died young in an internal power struggle within the Uesugi family 400 years ago. Initially taken as a hostage from the neighboring Houjou Clan, he was adopted by Lord Uesugi Kenshin and became deeply respected and loved by him.
