Susumu Nakoshi is a middle-aged individual residing in his vehicle. He divides his time between a park populated by homeless individuals and an upscale hotel complex. Manabu Ito selects him to be an experimental subject, as Susumu doesn't fit into the categories of being a self-centered affluent person or a pitiful homeless individual; he exists "somewhere in between."
Following a trepanation procedure, Susumu gains the ability to perceive the "monster" within every human, revealing what frightens or obsesses them. By delving into human nature and confronting others' fears, he endeavors to comprehend his own identity through this peculiar and unsettling sixth sense.
