His life philosophy is simple: the quicker you finish one task, the more time you have for the next. He's often seen carrying a book he never seems to find time to complete. He struggles with names, frequently calling Kazuma "Kazuya" and Mimori "Minori." In the anime, Cougar harbors romantic feelings for Mimori. He knew Kazuma as a child and was the original creator of the Bullet moves, such as "Shocking First Bullet," which Kazuma later adopted. Cougar calls the final move "Rapid-Kill Final Bullet" instead of "Exterminating Last Bullet." Though they refer to each other as brothers, there's no evidence that they are actually related. In the manga, he is known as Cougar Straight and served as Kazuma's mentor, explaining their similar attacks like "Shocking First Bullet."
Straight Cougar is recognized as the fastest alter user on the planet and isn't shy about showcasing his abilities. With his alter, 'Radical Good Speed,' he can transform any vehicle into a high-speed object, effectively shrinking the world by completing tasks at incredible speeds. He can also boost his speed without a vehicle by encasing his shins and feet in armor (Radical Good Speed Wheels Unlimited). One of the most powerful alter users, he excels in high-speed combat and can even upgrade his armor to cover his entire body using his alter power.
Having seen the Alter Dimension, Cougar is a Native Alter who underwent refinement, which shortened his lifespan. This explains his urgency to live life to the fullest. Initially thought to be fatally injured in a fight with Kyouji Mujo, he later reappears to rescue secondary characters left at HOLY HQ. In episode 26, he is depicted sitting on a lounge chair, contemplating what Kazuma and Ryuhou should do instead of fighting—spending time with loved ones like Kanami and Mimori. His thoughts gradually slow down, and he lies still, leading to speculation whether he died or merely fell asleep. However, in the manga, after fighting Kazuma, he is fatally wounded and executed by Urizane's alter power for treason.
