It's somewhat puzzling why Souichiro Kadotake would choose to work for the Livelihood Preservation Agency. This enigmatically well-funded organization specializes in exorcising spirits, yet Souichiro stands out for his sheer terror of ghosts. Indeed, the medium he works with—Misaki Saiki—often has to practically drag him into supposedly haunted houses. When Misaki is in a rush to get to the S&M club where she works, she sometimes uses Souichiro's car to change into her fetish leather outfits, often distracting Souichiro while he drives... leading to minor accidents. Despite his fear of ghosts, Souichiro is fearless when it comes to dealing with living threats, especially thugs and yakuza punks. Souichiro is an exceptional martial artist, capable of crippling—or if he chooses, killing—anyone who attacks him. He finds it particularly repulsive when attacked from behind and deals with such assailants harshly. Often dressed like an average Japanese salaryman, Souichiro is frequently underestimated. However, his combat skills are ineffective against Misaki, as he is intimidated by her, even as he drags the often-reluctant Misaki to ghost-hunting assignments.
