A boy, who by his own account, has had his parents pressuring him "since the moment I was born." His father, an attorney, and his mother, a housewife, consistently pressured him to succeed for the family's sake. Failing to meet these expectations labeled him as an embarrassment, especially his unique fascination with butterflies. These insects seemed drawn to Souichi, surrounding him and, according to him, even singing to him. When he failed the entrance exam to a prestigious high school and had to attend a less renowned one, the pressure from his parents became unbearable. He took a box-cutter to his neck and committed suicide. However, Souichi returned to life, sustained by the negative energy of demonic spirits. There was a risk he might turn into a purely evil spirit unless Tamaki, a medium in training, could perform an exorcism, which would result in Souichi's death. Tamaki considered performing the exorcism without Souichi's knowledge but dismissed the idea as disrespectful. Meanwhile, Souichi's mother visited Tamaki's temple, fearing her son's demonic power, and pleaded for her son's exorcism. In the end, despite his parents' inability to forgive Souichi for not being the son they wanted and unwilling to love him as the butterflies did, Souichi confronted Tamaki. Tamaki had to exorcise the demons even if it meant Souichi would die again. During this ordeal, Tamaki nearly died himself until his girlfriend Asahi brought him a forgotten rosary, essential for his protection during the exorcism. As Asahi put it, "I chose your life over Souichi's, so we'll just have to be unforgivable together."
