Shizu is a young man with exceptional talent in swordsmanship. He travels across the land in a dune buggy accompanied by Riku, his talking dog. In the anime, Shizu appears in just one episode, but he features prominently in several stories in the novels, often alongside Riku. Most of these stories are narrated by Riku, except for one. Later in the novel series, Kino and Hermes encounter Shizu and Riku once more, though Kino only recalls Riku's name. It is also mentioned that Shizu is the son of the hedonistic king from the sixth anime episode.
