Shinjiro is a close friend of Akihiko and a senior at Gekkoukan High School. In combat, Shinjiro uses a large axe, leveraging his raw strength. His Persona specializes in physical attacks.
Shinjiro, known for his tough talk and foul mouth, was one of the original Persona users who formed SEES, along with Akihiko and Mitsuru.

However, during a critical mission, his Persona went out of control and accidentally killed an innocent bystander: Ken's mother. Following this incident, Shinjiro distanced himself from the group. He started skipping school and living as an outcast. He also began dealing with Strega to obtain drugs that could help him control his Persona.
Shinjiro and Akihiko kept in touch, but Shinjiro declined Akihiko's invitations to rejoin SEES until he learned that Ken had joined the group. Aware of Ken's desire for revenge, Shinjiro was prepared to take responsibility for his actions. Despite putting on a brave front, the guilt of killing an innocent woman gnawed at him.

On the second Full Moon mission after rejoining SEES, Shinjiro meets Ken at the site where Ken's mother was killed. Shinjiro does not intend to resist Ken's attempt at revenge but warns the boy that if he proceeds, he might end up like Shinjiro. As Ken struggles with his decision, they are interrupted by Takaya. Takaya fires at Ken, and Shinjiro jumps in front of the bullet, sacrificing his life. This act earns Ken's respect and strengthens Akihiko's resolve. Later, SEES members discover that the drugs Shinjiro was taking were slowly killing him.
During the final confrontation with Nyx, the Main Character hears Shinjiro's voice cheering him on, along with the voices of the other SEES members.
