Shiho is a member of Konoha's cryptology squad, assigned by Shikamaru Nara to decode the message left by Jiraiya.
Personality-wise, Shiho is cheerful and upbeat. She seems to have a crush on Shikamaru Nara, often blushing in his presence. When Shikamaru leaves to seek help with the code, she declines her boss's offer to go home, choosing instead to wait for him. She fixes herself up in front of a mirror, hoping to see Shikamaru again when he returns. Her excitement and nervousness around Shikamaru are highlighted in chapter 407's cover page text.
In Part II, during the Hunt for Uchiha arc, Shiho is introduced as part of Konoha's cryptology unit. She informs Shikamaru that deciphering the code requires someone who was close to Jiraiya. After assisting in cracking the code, she accompanies Shikamaru and others back to Tsunade's office.
In the Invasion of Pain arc, Shiho helps Shikamaru and Sakura interpret the decoded message. During Pain's attack on Konoha, she is seen speaking with Shikamaru and his father. She survives the large-scale assault along with Shikamaru and Shikaku.
Abilities-wise, Shiho is level-headed and highly competent despite her young age. She excels in code-breaking, aiding both Shikamaru and Naruto. Her intelligence shines through as she provides valuable insights into understanding Jiraiya's message.
