Sakura is the sole female member of Team 7. Initially, she is physically weak and harbors a strong crush on Sasuke. She dislikes Naruto at first. Her main strengths are her intelligence and excellent chakra control, making her one of the smartest kunoichi in the academy. During the first part of the Chuunin exam, she easily answers the questions but struggles to defend Sasuke and Naruto against Sound ninja in the second part. This prompts her to pledge to become a better ninja and person, symbolized by cutting her long hair with a kunai. In the third part of the Chuunin Exam, Sakura faces off against Ino Yamanaka, her former friend and rival for Sasuke's affection. They end up defeating each other simultaneously, transforming their rivalry into a friendship with competitive undertones. After the time skip, Sakura has become a Chuunin and trained under Tsunade for two years, becoming a highly skilled medic-nin. She demonstrates her abilities by performing complex surgery to extract poison from Kankuro's body and creating an antidote for a new type of poison used by Sasori, which even the Suna medical-nin could not manage. During this period, Sakura matures in personality, becoming calmer than when she was a Genin, though she still has a temper, especially when Naruto acts foolishly around her. She will not hesitate to beat him up if he misbehaves. Sakura has evolved not only as a medical-nin but also as a capable fighter. She can destroy the ground with her fist using superhuman strength, a technique taught by Tsunade. Additionally, she teams up with Elder Chiyo from Sunagakure to defeat Sasori of Akatsuki. Sakura also possesses genjutsu potential, although she hasn't fully utilized it yet. However, she shows almost complete immunity to being trapped in illusions.
