A very strong and attractive woman, Satsuki was a devoted wife and mother, though she had a fierce temper. She was especially close to Yûto, teaching him how to cook, while also maintaining a deep bond with her only daughter. Tragically, Satsuki was killed by a car while crossing the street when Ito was six years old, about ten years before the manga's storyline begins. Satsuki was highly supportive of Ito's tomboyish nature because she herself had been much like Ito during her own youth. Her maiden name was Satsuki Aiba. Her mother disappeared when she was 12, and her father died when she was 15. Satsuki was taken in by Mitsuko Miura due to the close relationship between their families, which is how she met and fell in love with Gorô before they eloped. On the day she died, Ito cut her hair for the first time, and the last thing Satsuki told Ito was to "live freely and become the woman she wants to be when she finds the one who will move her heart."
