Sai is the replacement for Sasuke Uchiha in Team 7. The name "Sai" was given to him upon joining the team, as his real name remains unknown. He was recruited by Root at a young age and trained to suppress his emotions to facilitate mission success. This lack of emotional expression initially causes difficulties when he joins Team 7, as he inadvertently insults his teammates while trying to appear sociable. His attempts to smile come across as insincere, which further alienates his teammates. Over time, however, Sai begins to value bonds, particularly inspired by the bond between Naruto Uzumaki and Sasuke Uchiha. He strives to form connections with others, starting by giving people nicknames based on his observations, though this often backfires due to his blunt honesty. Eventually, he learns to compliment people by saying the opposite of what he sees, such as calling Ino Yamanaka "beautiful." Although his efforts to be helpful are not always appreciated, Sai continues to try to support those around him. Sai is a talented artist who claims to have drawn thousands of pictures. Despite the vast number of drawings, his emotional detachment makes it impossible for him to title any of his works, leaving them all unnamed. His artistic skills also serve as the basis for his jutsu. By drawing on his scroll with a brush, he can bring his creations to life, enhancing their size and granting them movement. His technique, Super Beasts Imitation Picture (超獣偽画, Chōjū Giga), allows him to create birds for flight and lion-like creatures for combat. Additionally, Sai can create an Ink Clone (墨分身, Sumi Bunshin) of himself for reconnaissance without risking his own safety. He can also transform written words on his scroll into small animals that seek out targets and revert to text upon arrival, providing an efficient means of communication.
