ishizaki ryou

Ishizaki Ryou has been Tsubasa Ozora's best friend from the very start of the story. He resides in the city of Nankatsu, Shizuoka and is introduced as the captain of the initially unsuccessful Nankatsu elementary soccer team. Although Ishizaki's soccer skills are not on par with Tsubasa's, his unwavering determination and tenacious personality have earned him a spot on the national team. This is exemplified during the World Youth Cup Finals when Ishizaki was knocked unconscious by blocking an incredibly powerful shot at point-blank range using his specialty, the face block defense.
