The youngest and newest member of the Organization, Roxas, was discovered in Twilight Town by Xemnas. Known as the "Key of Destiny," Roxas's original self is Sora. In the English version of Kingdom Hearts II, he is voiced by Jesse McCartney, while Koki Uchiyama takes on the role in the Japanese version. Pre-release screenshots and videos of Kingdom Hearts II prominently featured this character without his Organization coat, highlighting his significance to the game's plot.
In battle, Roxas wields the "Oathkeeper" and "Oblivion" Keyblades, which symbolize Sora's memories of Kairi and Riku, along with the power of light. As a more powerful Nobody, Roxas commands Samurai Nobodies. His backstory and induction into Organization XIII will be explored in the upcoming Nintendo DS game, Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days, where Roxas will be a playable character.
Unlike other Organization members, Roxas lacks memories of his previous life due to the brief time Sora spent as a Heartless. During his time in the Organization, Roxas formed a friendship with Axel but left to find out why he could wield the Keyblade. He was confronted by Riku, who defeated him and brought him to DiZ. In Kingdom Hearts II, DiZ places Roxas in a virtual Twilight Town, erasing his memories of the Organization and giving him a fabricated identity to mislead them. While living in this virtual world, Roxas begins to see Sora's memories in his dreams.
Roxas lives a seemingly normal life in "Twilight Town" until Axel infiltrates it to save him. Despite Axel's efforts to stop him and Roxas regaining his memories of the Organization, Roxas merges with Sora early in the game, influencing some of Sora's memories. Later in the game, Roxas appears twice more. The first appearance is during a cut scene battle with Sora, which is never fully explained. In Kingdom Hearts II Final Mix, this battle becomes playable, and a new cut scene shows Xemnas explaining that Axel's death triggered Roxas's reappearance.
Roxas makes one final appearance alongside Naminé before Kairi enters the corridor of darkness back to Destiny Islands. Both Roxas and Naminé imply that they will continue to exist within Sora and Kairi, both as parts of them and as individuals. This is depicted in the ending cinematic when they smile at each other through Sora and Kairi.
