The most powerful of the Three Kings, the God of War, and the strongest character in the series, Raizen was injured in battle and nursed back to health by a human woman whom he loved and impregnated. Raizen promised never to eat another human until he saw her again, but she died before he could fulfill this vow. True to his word, he starved himself for hundreds of years, causing his power to wane as his hunger grew. The lineage of the witch doctor eventually extended to Yusuke Urameshi. Just moments before dying of starvation, Raizen still had enough strength to fight evenly with S-Class warriors. During Yusuke's battle with Sensui, Raizen possessed him, helping Yusuke defeat Sensui. Raizen then instructed Yusuke to train relentlessly for months so that he would surpass Raizen and inherit his kingdom before he died. Although Raizen passed away before Yusuke could surpass him, Yusuke ultimately gained Raizen's kingdom.
