More commonly known as Methuselah, Rain is 624 years old. His immortality has made him famous, and he is the target of numerous bounties. The source of Rain's immortality is revealed in early flashbacks, involving a mysterious man. Described as a "nice screw-up," Rain is one of the funniest characters in the series. As the story progresses, he falls in love with Machika. Preferring to avoid violence, he keeps his distance from others out of fear of their eventual deaths. In the flashbacks, Rain was shot and killed by Yuca but was then "reborn" after consuming the flesh and blood of Freya, an infected subject. Rain contrasts sharply with Yuca in many ways and has told him that he will never see life the same way Yuca does. Rain possesses all the powers of an angel without any of the drawbacks, making him a "perfect immortal." He has a laid-back, slightly quirky personality. In the final chapter, thanks to Yuca, Rain becomes human.
