Ookami is the owner of the Souma Hot Springs and the mother of Ritsu Souma, who is the monkey spirit. Similar to her child, she has a frail health condition and tends to profusely apologize for even the smallest mistakes.
Unlike many other parents of the cursed Soumas, Ookami loves her child dearly and asks Tooru to befriend him. She also holds affection for the other Zodiac members who come to visit the hot springs.
In the 2001 anime, Ookami has a more prominent role, narrating Yuki and Tooru's visit to Ayame's dress shop. During her narration, she frequently makes errors and immediately apologizes for them afterward.
