Names: Oboro Iga, Hime-Murasaki (Lavender Princess)
Age: Unknown, but likely in her late teens or early twenties
Hair color: Black in the anime, Dark purple in the manga
Eye color: Violet
Love interest: Gennosuke Kouga
Ninja abilities: Mystic Eyes
Oboro is chosen as one of the ten Iga clan members to oppose and fight the Kouga. After her grandmother Ogen's death, she briefly becomes the clan leader, only to be replaced by Tenzen, who believes she is too passive to lead effectively. If she had been allowed to marry before the peace treaty was dissolved, Oboro could have saved many lives from both clans. However, this was not possible, forcing her into conflict with her childhood love, Gennosuke.
Oboro is a peaceful and gentle person, reluctant to kill her enemies, which highlights her pacifistic nature. She is also selfless and trusting, qualities that some family members exploit. Despite these betrayals, she remains loyal and obedient to her clan. Her family addresses her respectfully as "Oboro-sama," but many view her as an oddity within the clan.
Though not exceptional in combat, Oboro possesses a powerful eye technique that can strip any ninja of their abilities. This ability can evolve if fueled by hatred, resulting in severe damage to her enemies. Few knew about this hidden power, including Oboro herself. To prevent using her powers against her own clan, she seals her eyes shut with a potion called "Seven Days of Darkness" given to her by Ogen.
As the war between the clans intensified, Oboro faced difficult choices and endured the pain of losing loved ones. Though she rarely shows it, these experiences deeply affect her emotionally, leading to significant personal growth throughout the series. Despite her love for Gennosuke, other ninjas show interest in her. Tenzen lusts after her and attempts to take her as his wife to become the true lord of Tsubagakure, even resorting to attempted rape. Koshirou, devoted to Oboro, holds romantic feelings for her but is bound by his loyalty to Tenzen. Nonetheless, Gennosuke remains her primary love interest.
In the original novel, Oboro is described as having a face "as beautiful as the sun" and "deep, almost hypnotic, crystal eyes." Although passive, she is determined when it comes to protecting others and deeply cares for her clan. She frequently visits the graves of her deceased relatives to pray for their souls, despite the arduous journey, believing it is important to show them respect. This ritual has been a part of her life since the death of her nurse, who was like a mother to her.
