She was a Silpelit child, approximately 3-4 years old, identified solely by her designation number assigned by the human scientists at the research facility, as she lacked a personal name. She appears only in episode 10 of the anime during Kurama's series of flashbacks when he became the director at Chief Kakuzawa's island facility. Kurama's flashbacks offer insights into the experiments conducted on Diclonii to gauge the range and power of their vectors. Every day, Number 03 was chained to a wall, while a machine at the far end fired small iron balls at her from various angles. The objective was to assess the maximum reach and deflective capabilities of each Diclonius's vectors. When the experiment became excessively traumatic for Number 03, Kurama expressed his disapproval over witnessing such inhumane activities. Subsequently, the locks on Number 03's restraints mysteriously opened, allowing her to embark on a killing spree until she encountered Kurama. Number 03 had concealed the true extent of her growing vectors from the research team, aiding in her escape. She immediately placed her vector on his head and thanked him eerily before being shot dead in the head by Professor Kakuzawa with an armor-piercing bullet. Several months later, Kurama's wife gave birth to a Diclonius baby (Mariko), much to Kurama's fear and astonishment. This event made Kurama recall his near-death experience with Number 03 and finally realize that the virus is transmitted through the vectors.
