This led him on a vengeful quest against her. Armed with two or more Desert Eagle handguns, which fire .50 caliber rounds too powerful to be blocked by vectors, though they can be deflected at long range. At close range, even Lucy cannot stop them.
In the manga, he acquires additional weapons like an RPG. His journey for revenge is frequently interrupted, eventually leading him to assist Kurama in eliminating a threatening diclonius. Bando is motivated by his desire to fight and demonstrate his superior combat skills. In the anime, he is crippled once again by Lucy, while in the manga, he sacrifices himself by being torn in half to save Mayu when Lucy attempts to kill her. Miraculously, he survives and reunites with Mayu at the story's conclusion.
