The main character, Naoyuki, is typically a rather quiet boy who mostly spends time with his close friends. As a member of the school newspaper club, he spent the previous summer watching for UFOs near a local military base alongside the club's chairman. At the start of the new school year, he meets Kana Iriya, a transfer student, and quickly develops a crush on her.
Naoyuki usually makes an effort to be assertive when necessary, but he is also very sensitive and sheds tears multiple times throughout the series.
