Nanashi is one of the more enigmatic characters in MÄR. He was discovered by Galian, lying alone in a desolate area with a severe stomach wound. After being revived by Galian and taken to the bandit village of Luberia, it became clear that he had no recollection of his past or even his own name. Consequently, Galian named him Nanashi, meaning "nameless." Later on, Galian betrayed Nanashi by joining the Chess Pieces and erasing Nanashi's memory of him, leaving Nanashi in charge of Luberia. Nanashi's primary objective is to find the Chess Piece responsible for destroying Luberia (Peta) and avenge his fallen comrades. Like Ginta, Nanashi possesses the scent and extraordinary strength characteristic of someone who came to MÄR-Heaven from another world. Early in the story, Dorothy observed that he had immense physical strength, similar to Ginta. Nanashi wields lightning ÄRM.
