Kuroe's elder sister is the sole surviving family member known to him. She was afflicted with an undiagnosed illness, and being the only woman Kuroe genuinely "loved," he frequently skipped school to visit her. One night at the hospital, she vanished when a vampire abducted her, leaving Kuroe, who was in pursuit, blinded. Interestingly, once his eyes healed, they developed unique abilities. Kuroe holds onto the belief that his sister is still alive, which motivated him to become a vampire hunter in the hope of reuniting with her.
