Mitsuru, whose family name is unknown, serves as Shigure Sohma's editor. Shigure affectionately calls her Mit-chan. She is often portrayed as a deeply melancholic young woman, frequently seen urging Shigure to complete his manuscripts or other projects for publication. Shigure either procrastinates until the last minute or falsely claims he hasn't finished his work just to tease her. Despite Shigure always managing to finish his work eventually, some view Mitsuru as somewhat naive for not learning her lesson. However, this overlooks Shigure's habit of leaving home and taking sudden vacations when deadlines loom, pushing Mitsuru to the brink of (comically) attempting suicide several times. Her boss tries to console her by reminding her that Shigure is simply playing tricks on her again.
Besides her professional relationship with Shigure, Mitsuru is also involved in a potential romantic relationship with Ritsu Sohma. They are seen twice sharing emotional moments, crying, blushing, and discussing their lives and problems together.
