Miki is a first-year high school student and a member of the school's track and field team as a sprinter. She is best friends with Suzuka Asahina and later Yamato. Before they started attending the same high school, Miki frequently encountered Suzuka at track meets and initially disliked her because Suzuka appeared cold and aloof. However, once Miki understood that Suzuka's distant demeanor stemmed from her perfectionist tendencies and dedication to her sport, she began to respect Suzuka, and they became close friends.
Although Miki was initially attracted to Yamato Akitsuki, she put her feelings on hold when she realized he was infatuated with her best friend, Suzuka. Miki is extremely loyal to her friends and will go to great lengths to help them. She often involves herself in their personal matters and can be quite persistent in pushing them to confront their emotions. When asked what is most important to her in life, her simple answer was, "Friends!"
