M1, M2, and M3 are members of Team Ichigaki in the Dark Tournament. Their real names are Yen, Kai, and Ryo, respectively. From a young age, they were trained by their master, Mitamura, in martial arts. However, when Dr. Ichigaki poisoned their master, the three sacrificed their freedom to secure his healing. Dr. Ichigaki implanted Blood-Slaver Nodes on their backs, which could only be removed at the cost of their lives, placing them under his complete control and significantly boosting their strength. Their souls remained trapped inside, yearning for freedom even at the cost of death. Despite this, their souls retained some abilities, such as communicating with Kuwabara through dreams to explain their plight.
All three are highly skilled fighters. M2 and M3's attacks are invisible to those without sufficient spiritual training, while M1 distracts opponents with visible attacks. They fight efficiently as a team, covering each other’s moves and keeping their opponents on the defensive. During the preliminaries, they won all their matches and easily eliminated an opposing team member who tried to kill them. The next day, they sent Kuwabara a dream message explaining their servitude to Ichigaki.
In the main tournament, Team Ichigaki faced Yusuke, Kuwabara, and Genkai. Initially, Yusuke and Kuwabara couldn't see through their attacks. Under Ichigaki’s orders, they neutralized Kuwabara, but Yusuke's anger allowed him to perceive and counter their techniques. Genkai used a special technique that gave their souls the strength to choose between corruption and purity, enabling them to remove the Nodes without dying. This victory secured the match for Team Urameshi.
Though initially feeling unworthy to see their master, Genkai explained their healing process, and Mitamura forgave them. Kai offered to replace Kuwabara on Team Urameshi to make amends, but tournament rules prohibited it. Ultimately, all three and their master survived the final matches and left the arena alive.
