M1, M2, and M3 are members of Team Ichigaki in the Dark Tournament. Their real names are Yen, Kai, and Ryo, respectively. Since childhood, they were trained by their master, Mitamura, in martial arts. However, when Dr. Ichigaki poisoned their master, the three gave up their freedom to get Ichigaki to heal him. Dr. Ichigaki implanted Blood-Slaver Nodes on their backs, which can only be removed at the cost of their host's life. These nodes put them under his complete control and significantly increased their strength. Their souls remained trapped inside, unable to act, although all three wished for freedom, even if it meant death. Despite this, their souls retained some abilities. They managed to send Kuwabara a message in his dreams explaining their pasts. All three are highly skilled fighters. M2 and M3's attacks are invisible to those without sufficient spirit training, while M1 distracts enemies with visible attacks. They fight efficiently as a team, using their attacks to cover each other and keep their opponents on the defensive. The trio first appears during the preliminaries, winning their matches without a single loss and easily eliminating a member of an opposing team who tried to kill them. The next day, while Kuwabara was sleeping, they sent him a dream message explaining how they became Ichigaki's servants. In the main tournament, Team Ichigaki faces Yusuke, Kuwabara, and Genkai. Initially, Yusuke and Kuwabara cannot see through their attacks. Under Ichigaki's commands, they neutralize Kuwabara from fighting. The anger towards Ichigaki enables Yusuke to see through their techniques and attack successfully. Genkai then used a special technique that allowed their souls to choose between corruption and purity. This gave them the strength to remove the Nodes without killing their bodies, leading to Team Urameshi's victory. Initially, they felt unworthy of seeing their master again, but Genkai explained how they were healed, and Mitamura forgave them. Kai attempted to take Kuwabara's place in Team Urameshi to make amends, but tournament rules forbade it. It is shown that all three of them and their master survived and left the arena after the final matches.
