Loud, blustering, and largely ineffective, 17-year-old Lucson claims the titles of captain of the Ryvius and leader of the Zwei. These titles are recognized solely by Lucson, as the rest of the crew have their own designated individuals for these roles. Joining the Zwei to train for entry into the National Defense Academy, Lucson carries the weight of his family's honor and pride; his father and three brothers are already in service. This pompous youth's complete lack of leadership skills is glaringly obvious to everyone except himself. After a brief tenure as captain of the Ryvius, Lucson was demoted to ship's janitor and Pat's caretaker. Despite these setbacks, he maintains his pride. At heart, he is good-natured and ultimately takes a beating towards the end of the series in an effort to protect Pat.
