Lirin is the daughter of Ox-King Gyumaoh and his mistress, Gyokumen Koushou, in the manga and anime series Saiyuki. She is also the half-sister of Kougaiji. Despite Lirin being a constant reminder of his father's infidelity to his mother, Ratsetsunyo, Kougaiji loves her deeply.
Lirin's personality closely resembles that of Son Goku from the Sanzo Ikkou; she is cheerful and always smiling. Although she is relatively young, she is a formidable fighter with a notably curvaceous figure. In the manga version of Saiyuki Reload, Lirin was nearly subjected to experiments by Ni Jian Yi, but Kougaiji rescued her in time.
Accompanied by their loyal companions Dokugakuji and Yaone, Lirin and Kougaiji embarked on their own quest to obtain the sutra from the Sanzo Ikkou.
