One of the five great Bodhisattvas residing in heaven, she administers mercy and compassion. However, she is portrayed as a vulgar, breast-baring, hermaphroditic, and seductive Bodhisattva. She was the one who ordered the Sanzou Ikkou to journey west. While it may seem like she enjoys sending various trials their way, she has been earnestly watching over Goku and his companions' lives for 500 years. In Gaiden, she demonstrates immense power, enough to knock out Goku after he transforms into Seiten Taisei, suggesting she might be the strongest character. In the manga, she is depicted as a hermaphrodite, whereas the anime portrays her solely as female. In Saiyuki Gaiden, she is Konzen's aunt and the one responsible for bringing Goku to heaven.
