Kou is Ikumi Kyouko's cousin and fiancé. He is older than she is and frequently, much to her annoyance, tries to take care of her. He is dependable and mature, although Kyouko often disputes this. His efforts to bridge the gap between them often misfire, leading Kyouko to resent him even more, despite their close relationship growing up. Kou recognizes the strain in their relationship and suggests calling off the engagement. He would rather not be hated by Kyouko, for whom he still harbors feelings. He meets Okudaira Akira on a group date and finds her cute but childish. They keep running into each other, spending enough time together that people begin to speculate about a possible relationship between them.
