Kotaro is a 12-year-old middle school classmate of Misaki, who has a crush on her. He is also Hatoko's brother. For years, Tamayo has been assaulting him with various martial arts techniques, a torment that began when he was just four years old. Kotaro becomes envious of Ohjiro's advances towards Misaki and even challenges Ohjiro to a quasi-match of Angelic Layer, despite having no prior experience with the game. His family runs a karate dojo, and Kotaro has practiced karate himself. He shares some of his knowledge with Misaki, hoping it will help her improve Hikaru's performance.
