Formerly known as Hino Hakuya, this individual was once a student of Ogawara Genta and served as the pilot of the Moribito Type-01. He also became the leader of Kyomu and is Aoba's father. Known as Kokushou, which means Dark General, he wasn't always consumed by hatred. In the anime portrayal: As a child, Hakuya harbored deep feelings for Akana. In a moment of jealous rage, he attempted to kill Genta. However, Akana intervened, throwing herself in front of Hakuya, and died in the process. This tragic event propelled Hakuya on a nihilistic quest to destroy the world. Shortly after inadvertently causing Akana's death, Hakuya raped Shizuka. In the manga version: Young Hino Hakuya led a bright and happy life as a Jinki test pilot, with his beloved Tsuzaki Shizuka by his side. Everything changed when the Venezuelan military took Shizuka hostage, forcing Hakuya to use the Moribito Type-01 to brutally suppress a peaceful riot. Upon returning to base, he discovered that Shizuka had been raped by the soldiers. Overcome with rage, Hakuya slaughtered everyone he encountered. Concluding that Jinki were evil, he set out to eliminate every living Jinki scientist to cleanse the world of their influence. During this time, he engaged in a Jinki battle with his former mentor, Ogawara Genta. Blinded in this battle, Hakuya, though defeated, vowed to curse the living and promised the destruction of all. Thus, Kokushou was born. He gathered a group of elite soldiers and formed the Hachishoujin. He created clones named Shiva and Akao, and with aid from unknown benefactors, acquired numerous Jinki and bio-soldiers to achieve his goals. In the manga, Kokushou pilots the Moribito Type-01. In the anime, however, he is only seen piloting the Kiribito Core.
