Kirishima (known as Miyamoto in the English anime), Okubo, and Sawamura (called Komada in the English version) are Kazuma Kuwabara's loyal followers. Okubo's mother is frequently ill and unable to contribute much financially, so Okubo works to support the family. These three friends also appear during the Chapter Black Saga, where they join Kuwabara at a Megallica concert. On their way back, they encounter Kiyoshi Mitarai, also known as Seaman, who attacks them with one of his water-based monsters, nearly causing them to drown. Fortunately, Kuwabara rescues them. Exhausted, Kuwabara then carries all three along with Mitarai on his back to Yusuke Urameshi's apartment before collapsing. After recounting the incident to Kurama, he erases their memories of the event to spare them any distress and sends them home. In the first character popularity poll, Kirishima secured 9th place with 219 votes.
